Southwest Ranches is located on the eastern side of the Florida Everglades and 15 miles southwest of Fort Lauderdale. It is Broward County's 30th incorporated metropolis. The area has many horses and open space, creating a naturally beautiful environment.
Southwest Ranches is predominantly residential and agricultural sites, with minimal commercial properties. The community also has a growing amount of zoning for recreation and open space, which preserves land for residents' enjoyment.
Currently Southwest Ranches' parks and recreation facilities include Sunshine Ranches Equestrian Park, Rolling Oaks Open Space Park, Trailside Park, Southwest Meadows Sanctuary, Country Estates Fishing Hole Park, and Frontier Trails -- all offering unique features.
People can often be seen walking, or riding horses or bicycles on the trails that spread throughout Southwest Ranches, taking full advantage of the neighborhood's exclusive and comfortable landscapes. The Town is a rural environment, filled with grazing animals, nurseries, farms, exquisite and distinctive landscape, and a wealth of wildlife.
